How do you manage Load ?

This question quite often comes up in interviews particularly for a program/project manager kind of role.
The pointy haired interviewer asks
"Supposing you are experiencing uprecedented load on your web server, you have already gone overboard on your project budget, you don't have Devs to work on the problem, you do not have extra hardware, you don't have anything but yourself, your two bare hands, well not quite..just one hand while the other is churning out few reports; to fix the problem, What will you do...?"

The totally confused interviewee, completely bamboozled by the question and at the dismal state of the project almost decides to say.."Thou shalt quite thy gig...." but it is an interview, anything goes..! rather anything that makes the interviewer happy goes.

So the interviewee...collects himself and says "Turn down requests to the server saying....'Why don't you take a coffee break and try again later' "

Pat comes the reply from the Interviewer.." you are hired"

....was remided, when I saw this:

A Sense of Accomplishment ! at last

Like the infamous "Grenade" joke from the Monty Python...
"
Shalt thou take a timeout
then shalt wait for Eight months
No more or No less
Eight shall be the number of months thou shalt wait,
and the number of months shall be Eight.
Four months shalt thou not wait, neither wait thou two months,
excepting that thou then proceed to Eight. Five is right out. Once the month Eight, being the Eighth month, be reached, then thou thy step on the Holy Treadmill of Archstone towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. Amen
"
was the instruction from my Doc.

and...I stepped on the dreadful treadmill today to successfully complete a 5 minute, 5 miles/hr jogging session. Hurrrrrrrray !

Isai Gnyani !

Few days back I was listening to the recording of one his stage shows. This one seems; happened in Italy sometime last year. IR doesn't do many stage shows, he has just done a few here and there, but when he does it is top class. I heard the "One Man" show that he did recently was a runnaway success. I missed the show by just 6 days, damn. It is so stupid that all these private TV channel cover all unnecesssary things like star cricket etc.. but leave out on such an important event as this. I heard only RajTV covered the show and nobody knows if they have any intensions to air it.

This whole show is available on the internet(google, don't recall where exactly I got it from :-) ), I would recommend all IR fans out there to get a copy and listen to it. This one song it seems he composed specially for the show. Just this song proves his genius, he has used only 3 notes for the whole piece, S R2/G1 G3. The piece speaks for itself, get the intro here and the actual composition here. Enjoy ! I am not even sure of the copyright implications of this post however, simply couldn't resist sharing this one.

Talking about the Raja, reminds me of the ilaya raja and his new release Pudhupettai. Well, I must admit that it is getting a little noisy, his music. The same trend that AR exhibited after few of his initial films. Anyways, the only song that's note worthy is "It_All_Comes_Down_To_This - Oru_Naalil", don't know, someone should ask him to stop singing his own songs. I wouldn't say he is bad but doesn't sound very pleasant, either. The song's start also reminds you of "Hotel California". Something to note, amidst all the new MDs Yuvan does a pretty decent job with the background score, remember that single BG score from "Ram" is almost repeated in every bloody single tamil moview these days. In this release though the BG score has reminds me of "LOTR" :-) he has also lifted few pieces from Star Wars.. all I have to say for Yuvan is "May the force be with you" :-) One of the songs also resembles Remo's "The Flute Song". Is this some new trend ? naming the songs in english ? don't know where this getting..... what's Ramdass/Karunanidhi doing..? guess hey are busy with the elections.
