Kanda Naal Mudhal
Yushankar Raja, one of "Ilaya" Rajas has been creating waves of late with his music. I listened to songs from "Kanda Naal Mudhal" recently. Quite impressive, I liked two songs, "Kanda Naal Mudhalai": I understand is a proper carnatic song, I wonder why YSR claims himself as the composer. The other song is "Panil Thuli" the songs is quite typical of YSR's melodious ones with the sinusoidal swaram pattern, KK and Shreya ghosal have done a pretty good job at rendering it. I didn't even attempt to find the ragam for "Pani Thuli" because of all the "konashtai" that he has done in the song, reminds me of the raja's synth pop number "Nethu oruthara oruthara paathom...". I hear that "Kanda Naal Mudhalai" is on ragam "Madhuvanthi".
I was really curious to know who composed "Kanda Naal Mudhalai' originally before it was remixed by YSR. Some googling went in vain, I wonder if it is one of those rare GNB's composition.

India now juxtaposes pre- and postindustrial societies: citizens who live on dirt floors without electricity and others who live like 21st-century Americans, only with more servants. The highway throws these two Indias into jarring proximity.
